Dreamin, Darin' Doin' 3-D Band from Bulldogland
People keep asking, "Why 3-D Band?" What does 3-D mean? Where did the 3-D come from?
12 years ago the band program had fallen on hard times. The bandsmen were discouraged so they needed something to encourage, challenge and stimulate their interest in band again.
Dreamin'
That first year we dreamed of what the band could be and would be... The kids accepted the challenge and worked hard. They worked their dream and started DARIN'
Darin'
With that start, they really began to dare! By the end of the 4th year their Darin' paid off. They were able to go to concert contest in their new uniforms and they came home with the first "1" earned by a Tahoka band in 18 years in Concert. They followed that "1" the next spring with their 1st "1" in sightreading also with their 2nd "1" in concert which gave them the 1st small sweepstakes. They followed that honor with the first Large Sweepstakes earned by a Tahoka band since 1952. Bandsmen started earning individual awards and helped the band DARE to do greater things. Now they were DOIN'
Doin'
From those humble beginnings the 3-D band has boasted many honors. Several bandsmen have made it to All state, several have gone to solo and ensemble contest and brought "1's" home. One brought back an "Outstanding Bandsman of the Year" award, one more 1st for the 3-D band.
More students continue to be successful. The 3-D band has garnered 8 Consecutive 1's in concert, 7 Consecutive 1's in sight-reading, 4 Consecutive 1's in marching and that has given us 4 Consecutive Large Sweepstakes. That's 7 consecutive Sweepstakes years, 3 small and then 4 Large. In the history of Tahoka High School bands, 6 Large Sweepstakes have been earned. 5 of those were earned by the 3-D Band
I'm proud of the 3-D Band from Bulldogland.
3-D = Dreamin', Darin', Doin'
Each year the band continues to:
DREAM of how they can improve.
DARE to be the best.
DO whatever it takes to be the best.
