This year your child will be participating in several novel studies. They will also be participating in AR again. AR is crucial as it allows the students to practice the reading skills that we are learning through are novel studies. Each student will be required to get 10 points per six weeks. If a student does not achieve their total points they will carry over to the next six weeks. Students may also be assigned a six weeks project that counts as a test grade.

During language arts students will focus on their grammatical and writing skils. Students will also be writing weekly memoirs to document their sixth grade year. This will count as a test grade for the six weeks, and as a end of semester grade.

Homework will be assigned on a daily weekly and six weeks basis. Please check with your child nightly to assist with any homework they may be bringing home and may need assistance with. Only through the combined forces of Parent, child, and teacher can the student reach their academic potential.

Grading will be done on a daily, weekly and six weeks basis with each area receiving a certain percentage. Grades will consist of journal writings, daily grade and Tests/projects. Homework will be given daily with some sections completed in class, group work and independent work that should be completed at home.
